Wearing sunglasses, or not, we have trouble seeing the speedometer/tachometer in the bright sunlight -- like looking into a black hole (2011 G37 Coupe). How about you, or is it just our aging senior-eyes?

I'm 57 and the only time I have a visibility problem with the gauges is when the automatic headlights decide it's dark out and turn themselves on. When the headlights come on, the panel dims, because if it were actually dark they'd blind you at daytime brightness. There are also brightness controls--you don't accidentally have them turned all the way down, do you?

Few things could happen. Make sure your auto headlight is on. If not than it might be on night setting and it is lower. Also you can check it by switching the day/night switch. Also in the setting you can set the brightness of it. You can also manually adjust on the the side of the tacho meter with the +/-.

Hope this helps. You can actually adjust your lights annoyingly bright.

This might sound stupid, but do you have your wheel/dash at the proper angle? I never had a problem seeing my guages. I like my Z. The Tach is front and center and very large.

Karmann Ghias are really cool little cars. I can't believe they have that little horsepower. :iconeek

Shoot, '71 was the "big block" 1600, 0-60 in around 20 seconds. The earlier 1500s were around 50hp.

I once built a VW camper bus that would pull the front wheels off the ground. Surprised some people while the transmission held up, which wasn't for long.

Our first Ghia was 40 hp, and first Beetle 36 hp......I have to be careful when switching from the Ghia to the G37.

:lolling:

That is like when I had my WS6 Trans Am and my Z28 at the same time. The T/A was a 6-speed and the Z is an auto. Being that they looked almost adentical from the drivers seat, I would have to sit on my hand when I drove the Camaro!

Hehehe. I always had more trouble with my left foot when I switched between my RX7 and my Q45. I'd go for the clutch without thinking and hit that wide brake pedal on the Q. I'm sure I was cursed more than one by the driver behind me.

Our '71 Karmann Ghia has a unigue semi-automatic transmission .......There's a shift lever, and no clutch pedal. Tough to get used moving the stick, and not ones left foot........
