My first post, yay! Hey guys. My 95 240 was sent to the paint shop to have my hood repainted for the second time. The paint shop had my car for over a month and while it was there, they had the hood off of the car to be reshot. At some point while it was there, the engine had been subject to rain water when the hood was off. When I picked it up a few weeks ago, I jumped in and turned the key. The car fired up but immediately the CEL was on. I drove it back to my shop (I'm a mechanic working on Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas, Lexus and Mazdas). Driving back to the shop, I noticed the car would not shift into 4th gear and the driveability was poor. Pissed off, I let it sit for a couple days and began to figure out what the codes were on for. It stored 3 - one for a knock sensor, one for the TPS sensor and the 3rd for a TCU code. A day later I started looking for more problems. I pulled the TPS off and noticed corrosion on the terminals and had another TPS ordered. The TCU code was related to the TPS and that would explain why the trans would not shift into 4th. So far, that is fixed and I tried to adjust the TPS as close as I could. I pulled the plug wires out and that's when I noticed the water in the spark plug holes. I sucked out the water before pulling the plugs and replaced the cap, rotor button, wires and the plugs. I had to call back the paint shop and complain about the water issue and they will help me out with some of the repair costs. They did admit to having the hood off and possible some water getting into the engine bay. Anyways after everything I have done, the car will not run correctly. I've noticed it very difficult to start sometimes and when I do get it to run, the engine will skip at idle. If I try and move the throttle plate quickly, the engine will seriously bog down as if there is a load problem and will continue to skip or seems like its missfiring. No CEL has popped up since, but I'm stumped on the bogging issue. What components are very sensitive to water under the hood? Would a distributor or MAF be a problem if they were subject to water? I've checked some of the connectors for water corrosion and have not come up with anything. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
