I recently took my 09 altima coupe to a technician so that I can get my housing blacked out. He's done it on my friend's IS250 and uses a heat gun to melt the glue to open the headlight. However, when he tried using the heat gun to open my altima headlights, the material wouldn't melt. It's like a plastic and near impossible to melt off. Anyone know any other way (other than throwing it in the oven) to get it off? Or better yet, anyone near the Orange County/LA area able to black out my housing for me for a reasonable price? I am moving back to school in Santa Cruz in a week, so I can get it done around the Bay Area then also. Thanks!

Do your headlights have OEM HID's or are they Halogens?

Welcome to the club!!!

http://forums.altimas.org/zeromain thats the link you should bookmark!

All the info here is in its proper section (for the most part)... (this type of discussion is in the "Interior/Exterior" Section.... take a look over there, all the answers are within!

The search button works too, and we are always here to help you out! (just try and post in the right section if you can, if you arent sure, dont worry theres no beatings issued!)

As of yet, theres only been a couple of people who have successfully opened the headlight (someone whose customized over 100 G35/37 headlights tried mine and melted one).

Check the lighting section.

John, I wouldn't bank on anything new from Stillen at this point regarding the headlights.

bxkim518, your best bet is to bake em or send them out who's done them before. The sealant used is NOT the same as most lights. Those are like caulk. They get soft when heated thus making it possible to pull the lights apart. However, Nissan used some type of an epoxy that has a higher melting point than the headlight housing plastics. You really need to get in there and rip them apart without breaking anything. It can be done though. There have been other people here who have done it, like myself and phenom. Check out my scrolling picture sig and you'll see that I have a dual projector setup. Oh the hotness if you can get it done....

Well here is my theory, if I can find out when Anzo makes the head lights (from Stillen or where ever), that will probably be when they are also available on ebay from the seller who sold the tails for half the price.

I would prefer to buy from Stillen, but if their price on the tails reflects the price of the headlights (whenever they come out ), I may have to look elsewhere.

So now I play the waiting game.

the king of baking- search for brandonbeebs email and ask what he does when he bakes em. he does these in minutes and hes done it at least 40 times lol he helped me when i had to reopen mine and such. its all patience really. or sit ur car outside in the sun for a while, and throw it in the oven for like 245F for a min or 2 (3 max) and start prying and working the corners... thats all i can say
