I am having difficulty getting this spring back into place.
I have tried two general methods, both of which have required using pliers. I've also tried both needle-nose and lineman's pliers.
Method 1: With the two ends of the springs in place and the clutch in the depressed position, try to force the middle part of the spring into the "c"-like bracket at the top of the clutch pedal (near the fulcrum).
Method 2: Place one end of the spring in the bracket, force the middle part of the spring into the "c"-like bracket, then force the other end of the spring into the bracket.
For some reason, I can't seem to get either method to work on my actual clutch pedal.
Method 1 worked in a junkyard car on a clutch pedal that was mounted, but without a plastic bushing.
Method 2 worked in a junkyard bracket that was removed from the car, but without the plastic bushing.
Is the easiest way to remove the clutch pedal bracket from the car and man-handle the spring in? If so, is Method 1 or Method 2 better? Or is there a Method 3 that hasn't occurred to me?
Thanks for any hints and suggestions. This is making an easy job very difficult.
