The passenger front caliper on my GF's 1992 240sx started seizing up this week and causing a major shake in the steering wheel. When I picked up a caliper from Autozone, the guy asked if the car was produced before or after 5/92 so I checked the door plate and it showed 7/91. He hands me a caliper, I go home to install it, and its the wrong one. I called him and explained the situation and he tells me he doesn't have any others and to try Advance Auto. AA claims to have one, I go pick it up, they asked the same question about the year, hand me a caliper, I get home and once again, its the wrong one.
I checked BOTH of their websites, and they both gave me what should have been the correct part number, but neither caliper fit, the mounting holes on both of them were too wide apart. The bolt holes on my stock calipers were 5.5" apart center to center and the replacement calipers I got were closer to 6" apart.
Is it possible that both Autozone and Advance have their part numbers backwards or did the previous owner swap out calipers and brackets?
