I just got a 2023 Altima Sedan. So far all attempts to connect my S21 to android auto have failed. I've tried holding the speech button on the steering wheel and gotten it to show what I'm saying on the phone, but that's about it. I tried connecting via bluetooth as well but it says I should pair my phone to the head unit in the car and I've already done that. I'm not sure what else I need to do here. Is there some trick to get Android Auto working on this? I have android auto installed on the S21.

Make sure your USB cable has a good connection.

Ok I figured out the problem. I am getting mixed signals as to whether or not I can connect Android auto wirelessly. Is that an option? When I plug in a cable it works fine.

AA and AC don't work via bluetooth on most models. Not certain about the '23 Altie, but chances are you need to plug it in.

reset the car’s infotainment system to factory settings check your owner's manual for instructions and reattempt the setup process

Resetting to factory isn't a good idea on most Nissan head units, in many cases it will wipe out the configuration and necessitate a trip to the dealer. For communications issues the best practice is to delete the connection on both devices (car from the phone and phone from the car), then re-pair. For other purposes try a "hard reset" by disconnecting both battery terminals and jumping the cables together for 5~30 minutes. That discharges any capacitor and supercapacitor backups and forces all the processors in the car to boot up and reinitialize cold.
