Greg and I found this really cool pet store that actually lets you pet the animals. While the girls were out of school for Christmas break, I decided to take them to see it. Katrina has always been around critters of all types but Saraya, not so much. This was the first time she ever touched a guinea pig / rabbit / pig / ferret / and a snake. They had a fantastic time and wished we had a farm, a barn, and a few acres of land by the time we left. I took a few pics of them while they were there, sorry for the crappy cell phone quality but it's all I had.

Their favorite:

They wanted to bring this guy home with them SO bad. It didn't help that they knew I had bunny rabbits as pets when I was growing up and that I loved them as much as they do. I can say, as the responsible parent that I am, no animals came home with us today. ;)

Guinea pigs:

Hamsters: (almost too tiny to see)

A baby pig that Priss wanted really bad:

A couple of bearded dragons that looked like they were worshiping the light bulb gods: :chuckle:

The cutest old dog. He was very friendly, very slow, and very soft. He will make someone a very good pet.

Not so cute yippee-yappers:

and finally...............the snake :ohno:

Saraya wanted to pet one. Here's the dilemma. I HATE snakes. A LOT. However, I couldn't let my fear get in the way of her curiosity so I let the shop owners take a python out for her to play with. I even petted it while she held it. (insert fainting smiley here). It was the only thing in the store Priss refused to touch. I figure it took me 36 years to get up the nerve, I understand the fear. Saraya loved it though. The snake seemed to like her. No excessive squeezing or aggressive behavior. Here you go:

All in all, a very fun day. They want to go back as soon as I am willing to take them.

Jesda hears, "wants a pig", thinks about bacon, taps into his evolved sense of deferred gratification, and imagines said pig in its full-grown state.

Coincidence?

There's a store like that in Cape Coral over here. I went with my friend a couple of weeks ago, it was pretty cool. Ferrets are awesome.

And ferrets dont stink if they are de-glanded and you bathe them properly.

And they love their owners :bigthumb:

Just make sure you don't let them roam the house when you have packages which allow them to get on counters they usually can't get to. Poor plants...

They don't stink if you keep their cage clean and give them a bath every couple weeks.

That does look like a fun day! The snake does appear to be a ball python, which are supposed to be good "beginner" snakes from everything I've read and experienced. I've had one for about 10 years now, and she's always been really laidback and easy to take care of. Not trying to push the idea on you though :) Looove the bunny too! I got one about a year and a half ago, and she's got a lot of attitude.

Anyone own anything really out there? When I was a kid I visited my dad's coworker's house. She and her husband owned monkeys. They put a glass cage in the middle of their basement. Their house looked like a well-run zoo.

Sorry, no pics. It was 1995.

I nearly hit a camel in my old T bird because it got out a fence.

I have a friend with a llama.

I had rabbits when I was younger, they weren't messy at all. My niece had one that roamed her house and shared a litter box with her cat.
