I think they are talking about a MPG, distance, mileage and elapsed time gismo.

I have one of these computers in my truck, but it's part of the trucks computer. It monitors quite a few things in order to calculate realtime MPG, AVG, DTE, etc. I don't think we'll see any aftermarket for this.

The web page isn't exactly clear, but would this work?

http://www.msdignition.com/2007/dashhawk.html

It claims to help with fuel efficiency so I can only presume it shows you current fuel economy?

I don't know much about these things, though

i have that one i bought it from Office Depot... the company that makes it is Post-it... its simple you get a pen and a sticky pad from post-it and write down the millage out and the millage in and the guesstimate of the gas level...

This gismo, from respected company MSD, looks like a NEAT "Black Box" for Racers/Tuners but NO, according to the list of parameters provided, it DOES NOT calculate either Instantaneous or Average Fuel Economy. Looks like it CAN display coolant temperature and amps though. Since the Versa has neither a temperature gauge nor ampmeter this could be useful information to have. Using the onboard diagnostics to interpret trouble codes could let you know in advance if your dealer is trying to SCAM you for unnecessary service. Supposedly, you can reset codes without going to the dealer as well which may have been beneficial to those with TPMS issues. And of course, the 0-60 mph and quarter mile ET's and speed could save dollars wasted at the track when tuning a vehicle. However, even the lowly 1.8 liter Versa is capable of going "Extra Legal" so checking quarter mile data on the street could prove costly and dangerous.

The Dashhawk site says:

Quote »Real-Time Fuel System Status (on Vehicles that support Fuel System Reporting)[/quote]Not sure if the Versa supports this, but it sounds cool!

The SCAN GAUGE works for me. I used it for 16 months on my 1999 Chevy Metro . I installed it in the Versa HB and it gives real time readings on not only trip and mpg data but engine temperature and lot of other stuff. I thought that I might have to do a software update for the 2007 model year, but not so. Just plug it into the diagnostic connector under the dash and you are good to go.
