Can anyone tell us what the Driver Alert function in the trip computer does? It can be set for .5 to 6 hours and really does not have a good explanation in the manual. I set mine for .5 one time them 1.0 the next but after the time passes without stopping nothing happens, no alert, no warning. What is it designed to do and is there a way to initialize it that I am missing.

Base on common sense, IMHO it seems to be some type of timer or countdown to zero thingy-ma-jig.

Except I wonder why no alert is executed after the time expires. :gapteeth: :gotme

You are correct about a timing function, but how do you start it and nothing happens when the time set passes. Those are the questions.

The manual says a 'warning' icon will appear after the preset time delay but no mention of an audible alarm. Presumably the vehicle must also be in motion for it to work. Read pg 2-21, item 15 Driver Alert.

I've set this once on my trip to Missouri and I set it to .5
It works but the display last for a good 3 secs.
I think it only will work if your drive constantly like you can't have speed go under 10mph or something.

I realize what it says in the manual as I indicated in the original post but has anyone actually set this and witness something happen at the expired time. I see a lot of I guess this is what happens, does anyone know for sure what it does?

Sorry, I cannot help more as I don't own a 2011 model.

TaiLuu seemed to indicate it just flashes an icon on the display. Perhaps other owners can confirm this.

There is nothing to be sorry for I appreciate the input it's just Nissan went through a lot of trouble to create a feature that appear to do nothing. I set it for .5 hr. and timed it with my watch and from 28 to 32 min. kept looking at the dash nothing happened. Who knows?

Answered my own question and almost too stupid to believe. After the expired time adjustable from .5 to 6 hours and I remind you it’s called Diver Alert a tiny white coffee cup flash 3 times for 1 second each flash. Yes that is a total of 3 seconds with no audible alarm and that notification which I have been missing for 3 weeks is intended to alert the driver it’s time for a break. Well I am 2 weeks 6 days and 14 hours over due before I happened to glance at the instrument cluster at the right time and see it. Beyond foolish you would think a driver alert would keep going till the driver was forced to take some simple action to stop it thereby actually notifying the driver it’s time for a break. You really have to wonder where the engineers mind was at the time he decided to include this useless feature.
