Hi there, This is for a '92 240sx BTW, non-hicas. Can anyone tell me how much I should(if at all) trim my bump stops? I'm installing AGX's and S-Techs. The paperwork included with the s-techs show that there is *no* trimming on the S13, but the S14 shows to trim the upper portion of the stop. I assumed both gen's had similar suspension configuration... FWIW, I have all new mounts and boots/bump stops all around.

Thanks greatly.Jamie

I wouldn't trim them unless you are bottoming out the shocks.

You can measure shock travel by tieing a zip-tie around the shock rod at the base.

This is essentially known as packer adjustment, you should read up on it.

Ok, well the reason I asked is because I havn't installed them yet. To get in there and to trim them while installed would be a PITA(I imagine). I don't think I'll want to remove them all a second time to do it later.

I see so many people who don't bother with the dust boots at all, which I really don't understand. The bump stops are integrated into the front boots, so these people are bottoming out metal-to-metal?? That can't be good for the shocks/struts.

I did some quick reading on the 'packers', they are used to actually adjust the bump-stops? Nothing I could find was relative to street tuning, or even a general overview.

I heard about the zip-tie method: so you slip this underneith the dust boot, then lift the boot later to see what your travel was? Obviously if it's at the top, I'm possibly bottoming out(well, minus the width of the ziptie).

Thanks for the direction.
