I'm curious if anyone's got any suggestions for fixing the sygnificant amount of trim rattle in my car. My idea is to try to find felt backed tape to use wherever two pieces of trim meet. (They did that with my mom's 99 jeep cherokee at least) or maybe real thin weatherstripping. Anyone have a better idea? (the worst rattles are the doors, definately..)second, I recently saw a radio box built for a boat out of around 3/8ths dense foam with 'glass over it..I want to do something similar for sub boxes..anyone know where to get this foam cheap other than a florist? (I didnt catch what type of foam they used, was on tv)finally...i just installed a new alpine mp3 player...replaced the aiwa unit i had...it's shweet :) just thought i'd mention that..

well you can go all out on sound deadening material like Dynomat or even better, RAAMmat 60... but honestly, the stuff i used was found on the side of the road :pface it's called "roofing material" or something like that... it's a dense tar based, 4mm thick, and is sticky on both sides... my buddy found 8 rolls of it on the side of hte road, each roll covering about 25sq.ft, and each roll weighs about 20 pounds...

people say this stuff stinks up your car.. it might for the first week, but after that the smell goes away :D i used it to sound deaden my entire trunk and get rid of any rattles in my interior panels. it's REALLY maleable and can be cut up into the smallest pieces for those little rattles you want to get rid of... looks like this (sorry for the large image but had to show SOME detail):

you know what's funny is... my buddy was just talkin to me on MSN and i was tellin him about my system plans and he asks "holly **** man how much bass do u need?"... and i thought about that for a good 10 seconds or so and i came up with the only logical explanation i could think of...

"enough to rattle ****"

:D

I would suggest for the rattling panels that you use 3M (or another high quality brand) velcro. This will make it so that the pieces do not move (rattle) and you can still take the pieces off if you need to. But be sure to rub the mounting surfaces with some alcohol. (SKYY Vodka does not work) Rubbing alcohol works great, just be sure to let the surfaces dry after applying the rubbing alcohol.

I had actually thought about velcro....if anything using the loop side alone in some areas....the worst rattle in the car is definately the door "cups" where you grab to open the door...this is cause the plastic around the mounting screw's broke....i'm gonna try fiberglass this weekend to strengthen it (superglue alone didnt work)thanks for the adviceast
