So for awhile now I've been gearing up to tackle upgrading my interior lights to LED, specifically my gauge cluster on my 94Q. So yesterday I was feeling enthusiastic about finally taking on the challenge and now i'm sort of regretting it. First of all, taking apart the dash was a nightmare. It literally took me 3 hours yesterday and another hour today just to get all the pieces unscrewed, harnesses disconnected, and the gauge cluster completely out. I wouldn't recommend anyone on here doing it unless you have the patience of a saint (I don't). But anyway, I was happy to have it all taken apart and done with.

So I noticed somewhere along the way as I was removing panels and harnesses that my interior lights stopped working all together. I figured I had blown a fuse, which I had done one other time before so i wasn't too worried about it. So I finally changed the bulbs in my gauge cluster and reattached the harnesses. I popped the hood and went to the fuse that I had changed one other time before (10A 4th from top) and no change. I then decided to check each and other one of my other fuses under the hood and in the inside panel under the dashboard and nothing appears to be blown. So I'm really kind of at a loss as to what to do.

Here are my symptoms: No gauge cluster lights except for the warning lights - brake, seatbelt, etc - those are all working. My radio display works but when I turn the headlights on, the display goes dark. None of the other lights on the radio work besides the display. The headlights work, the tail lights work, and my brake lights work, but my blinkers are not working. So I really don't know what to do here. I need help. Anyone have any idea on what i should check next?

Thanks

Are you sure the blinkers are dead - Or is it just the blinker dashboard indicator lights that are dead?

Are you sure the dimmer switch is connected, and if so - that it's not turned down? Also, I would re-check the connections to the hazard switch.

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. Sorry I haven't responded sooner, but my Q has literally been in suspended animation since the last time I posted. We've had about 4 major snowstorms in a row and I haven't even been able to get into my car, let alone try to figure this problem out, cuz the snow plows plowed me in really good. Anyway I finally was able to get back into it today and drive it for the first time in weeks.

First off, the headlights, fog lights, hi beams, tail lights, and brake lights are all working normally. However, my blinkers are not working. They're not working inside and they're not working outside. I have no lights on my gauge cluster at all, with the exception of the parking brake and the tripometer lights. My radio DISPLAY is working except when i turn the headlights on, then they dim so low you can barely read the digits. The other radio lights for all the buttons are not working. I still have the HVAC disconnected so i don't know if thats working or not. My entry lights are working and my dome lights are working. However, my automatic seat position and electronic tilt are both not working :frown:

I have not yet reconnected the dash piece covering the gauge cluster which also has the clock attached to it. But that being disconnected wouldn't have caused this, would it?

Any other input would be great before I re-tackle this problem tomorrow.

Thanks

I think the combination of the dimmer switch and hazard switch being unplugged is what's cause your issue.

Bingo, you were correct sir.. I had no idea those harnesses being disconnected would affect all that, but it did. Really makes testing to see if the LEDs are working a pain, cuz you have to reconnect the entire dash piece each and every time. But at least now I know if i ever have to do it again (or if anyone else attempts to do this). Thanks for the input, I was going crazy trying to figure it out!
