OK, so I thought I got the swap done. So I hook the battery up and try to crank it. When I do there is a accy/diff oil relay that makes a loud click and I can hear the fuel rail filling with fuel. But it doesn't crank over. The ECU is showing 2 codes. 23 and 45. 45 is on the list at bigpond as a leaky injector error, not sure where it is getting that from, but oh well, maybe the injectors are bad (at least one) but it should still crank the engine. The other code, code 23, is not listed on the error code list over at bigpond. Anyone know what this is?

If the engine is not cranking/ turning over, it has nothing To do with the ecu, when you try to start it, even if the ecu is not connected it should still turn, check your starter wires. The thick cable that goes to your starter should always have 12V at all times, and the thin wire should only get 12Vs only when you try to starter it (ignition is in the starting position). If you don't have 12V on this thin wire when you crank, check your wiring, and if it is ok, then your starter is toasted. (assuming that you have the engine grounded)

Good luck.

I will check that today on my lunch break. It was getting too late last night to think things out right.

OK, so all it was is I had failed to plug in the clutch switch. And I was getting codes using the SR method. But the CA is slightly different. Checked them the correct way and it gave a "55". WOOHOO it runs !!!

Great! At least it was something "simple"... however it'd suck to spend days searching for the problem only in the end to find a simple solution under your foot the whole time :)

You said you were a Nissan tech at one point right? Just curious... either way... glad to hear its running!

Hell no, I am not a Nissan Tech. This is my first Nissan and only the second Nissan I have ever worked on. And I didn't do a whole lot with that one. Just helped with an SR swap, but my role on that car was very small.

So... on a side note... I drove the car to work yesterday. So much fun. 10 psi of boost by 3200 RPM. Unfortunately it tapers off really bad on the top end. I am hoping that is mainly due to still having the stock exhaust. The engine is completely stock right now. Wanted to clean it up a bit before modding it.

Sie by side with a friend's SR with higher boost and a Mine's ECU it was equal in acceleration until about 5000 RPM and his SR starts reeling me in. I was giving some friends rides and one of my heater hoses blew up. Figured that might happen with the original hoses. Replaced it and pulled the thermostat out (not sure why). Flushed the system (it needed it anyway) and reinstalled my thermostat. Now it acts like the thermostat is stuck open. The thing never heats up. So I will deal with that this weekend and start driving it again next week.

So far though, I am very happy with it.

Oh, I do have a question though... The enigne makes kind of a rattling sound that you can only hear when the hood is up and you actually listen for it. It sounds like it is coming from around the timing belt area. Do they all make this sound? If not, I am sure I can find it, but I hate to worry about something that is nothing.

None of the timing components have the ability to make a rattle; more like a scratch or screeching noise.

Quote »bearings in the timing belt tensioners?[/quote] Yeah, but they don't rattle. Like I said, they make more of a scratchy-screetchy-type noise,

yeah, it's not a scratchy scratchy noise hahaha. No idea why, but that struck me as funny.

Well I will search this a bit more, but since I am posting anyway, can we use a CA18DE thermostat on our engines? I would assume we can, but you never know... OK, I never know.
