Tried to buy a BMW...

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I had a 99 QX4 that I owned for almost 10 years. In 10 years I had to replace the A/C compressor and in just the last month before I moved overseas, the distributor went. So, for 135,000 miles I can hardly complain.

So back to the US and year and a half later. I had decided to buy a BMW X3 for our primary car (had a 3 series before) with the idea of buying a "fun car" in a few months. So we set our budget at $25k - $30k for a used one and went looking. I was really dissapointed at the basic level of X3 you get for that kind of money. "Leatherette" - c'mon just call it vinyl. To get a 2008 - 2009 with any amount of features was going to come out at $33k - $35k.

I knew about the FX but really hate the front end. And it was just too big for what I wanted. So on the way to another BMW dealer, an EX35 was in front of us, and we came around and were very happy with the "G"ish nose on it.

I wanted to have a "drivers car" my wife loves small SUVs. The EX35 split it right down the middle. I also got features that the BMW didn't have anywhere near my price range. Leather, NAV, premium sound, sonar, backing camera, integrated phone / IPod support, etc. Plus, the big bonus is that it drives like a car. So, I no longer am looking for a "fun car". So my Infiniti saved me $7000 directly and another $15,000 on a second car.

I am loving it so far. I was driving up the east coast. Every time we got to the next town we decided to go a little further because we still felt fresh. 650 miles later, we stopped. WOW, that is comfort, and with a sporty drive.

I thought I wanted a 328 Wagon in 08 until I drove the EX. The EX was noticeably faster and you got a lot more stuff for the money. I am also not a fan of run flat/crap tires which BMW continues to burden owners with. The new X3 has run flat/craps.

WOOOHOOO!!!

Welcome to Nico other infiniti owner! The Ex is really nice for a full-size, but still small suv, with all the comforts of a car type ride. The suspension on my 08' G37 is the same as yours, so you will find all types of comforts out of the cars and suv's from Infiniti!
