So I by no means consider myself a detailing expert mainly because I haven't had a car worth a thorough detailing... This afternoon I was washing my CTS-V and I wanted to wax it, but since i was doing it outside I didn't feel like I had enough time to get it done before it got dark (and too cold) to finish a wax job. It was about 60°F here and I reckon it will be about the last nice day for a true hand wash/wax, so I was trying to figure out something.

I came across on one of the shelves in my garage this meguiars "quik wax" which is basically a spray on wax. Instructions indicated that you could spray it on a wet car, dry the car as normal, let the wax haze like normal, and then wipe clean with a dry cloth after letting it sit for a bit.

I followed the instructions as best I could, and overall I am very pleased with the results. It worked exactly how it said it would have and was definitely way easier than washing, drying, waxing, then removing. It basically took me the same amount of time as drying the entire car twice. I sprayed the wax on, continued to dry like normal with my chamois, and then did a quick wipe down with a dry cloth to reveal a mirror finish..

Only downside was the overspray in cracks and crevices, but was definitely easier to remedy than wax that wipe on.

Bottom line: I will most likely be doing this at least every other time I wash my car, probably cost me another 15 mins and the car looked and felt like it had a full wax job. I don't expect it to last as long as a true full wax job, but for the effort you can afford to do it more often.

I've been using Meguiars products exclusively for years, my dad wouldn't use anything different and I don't either. The only thing i've used that's not made by them is the Mothers Clay Bar kit.

I usually hand wax twice a year, with Meguiars cleaner wax and then with Gold Glass Carnuba Wax. In between I usually use the spray wax here and there, but i'm not nearly as dedicated to car cleaning as I used to be. I usually just keep them washed well and make sure they have some kind of wax on them to protect them.

Pics!!!

Glad to hear that stuff works. I'm always skeptical of it. I have a rain-x car soap with wax in the solution. Doesn't last the longest, but it definitely works in between real hand waxes.

So its literally a spray wax? How does it differ from the "quick detailer" sprays?

Its a wax, not detailer?

Lets run a battery of scientific tests to determine the difference.
