hey guys.. I'm stuck and I'm hoping someone can help me out...

I'm replacing my pass. side tie rod end. S13 'vert. I've got the end removed from the knuckle completely, but now I just can't seem to be able to get the dumb thing to loosen and twist off. I've got a wrench on the bolt at the connection, and another on the tie rod end... Granted. I'm no bodybuilder... but I just can't seem to find enough strength to twist it and loosen it. The problem is that everything moves.. the tie rods swing and twist... I just can't get it stable enough to find the leverage to really break it loose.

Any ideas???? Any tricks???

I shot it with PB Blaster... I guess I can leave it overnight and try again tomorrow..

Nevermind.. I got it figured out..

For future reference if anyone searches and has this problem..

You need two wrenches and a jack. Put the tie rod end on the jack to stablize the height.. then secure one of the wrenches on the inner tie rod sticking out toward the lower control arm.. Then twist it until it stops and secures on that LCA.. that is you stability for spin.. now put some muscle into it and it should snap free.

What a pain!!!!! These old cars and their tight old corroded bolts.. oy!

yep.. trying to seperate the inner and outer tie rods.. it's difficult to break that bolt free since everything moves.

one day i'll upgrade the entire suspension... top to bottom.. but for now.. keeping it on the road with reliable oem replacements.

DUDE.

Loosen the jamb nut before breaking the taper free from the knuckle. Once the slack from the TRE is taken up, the only thing that can move is the jamb nut, and pop! home free. THEN separate TRE from knuckle! Sounds like you did OK.
