my buddy has that same Ikeya seq shifter on his KA. iirc, it should work with the sr as well... not too sure about the ca tho...

if it doesnt, maybe swap trannys and bell housings?

Considering short shifters are universal between KA/CA/SR and the transmissions are essentially the same (minus bell housings and the slightly different gearing in the CA) I imagine it would work just fine. I want this though, like bad. I would indeed give my left nut for it.

the problem is, i want one really, really badly, but theres no way in hell i would pay full price for it. $1400 can be much better spent say, on a cusco or OS gearset, some clutch action, or 1400 $1 hookers. i guess ill have to keep typing "ikeya formula" into ebay every other day and hoping for the best.

I couldn't quite see his left knee, I don't think he was clutching in so that may be a dogbox mission. They make the kit.http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/en/pr....htmlWatch the shifter when used in a dog mission.http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/en/ca...2.pngI can shift almost that fast a regular short shifter, unless you get a smoking deal on it, without the addition of a clutchless shift it's just a fancy gizmo.

Here is a video I found of a dogbox. It looks like when he shifts, he lets off the gas then changes gears then hammers on it. If I had enough money, I would get one.

I think that last one was a true sequential gearbox, like a bike with the air shifter. and the one before that was something else. Notice how the FC still had an H pattern where the BMW was strait back for every up-shift. anyways ...What is dog-engagement or dogbox? no clue how it works but by the looks of it i want it.

Straight cut gears and dog engagement are two different things. Straight-cut gears are just that, big flat cog gears that have more face engagement that the helically cut gears in most stock transmissions. That is the source of the whine. Dog engagement refers to how the gears engage. Synchros are pointed leading edges for the gears that direct them to slide into place and take the brunt of the stress when shifting. dog engagement is so named because there are large notched rings or "dogs" that lock into place during gear selection. They can take a great deal more punishment that syncros but they also cause the clunky feeling and terrible breaking sound and require manly shifts to engage correctly.http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/html/information.htm
