I've been trying to search for the closest road courses and am I in the worst location ever (Philly)?

All I can find is Beaver Run out by Pittsburgh I think, Watkins Glen in upstate NY, and another in WV.Englishtown hasn't updated their site in a year or so and I heard the town was fighting them, so I'm assuming that course is not going to happen.

I don't want to have to drive out of state to go racing and risk breaking something that far away from home when I don't have a truck/trailer.

Am I missing any tracks or am I screwed cause I'm not interested in Autoxing?

You forgot Lime Rock closer then WG but still a good 3+ hous from Philly, also what about Pocono? I know they do PDA and such there on infield courses using one of the big banked turns. see > http://www.poconoraceway.com/trackrental/

I think that NASA, PDA and SCDA do events there.

You're not badly located for road racing. There are several nice road courses around, but all will require a few hours drive from SE PA.

Lime Rock (Lakeville CT). one of my favorites. Watkins Glen (up in the Finger lakes). Big and fast. NASCRAP only uses half the course.Pocono Raceway -near Nazereth (does have an infield road course, but very flat).BeaveRun (near Pittsburgh), funl track about the same size as Lime Rock, also has an amazing gokart track.Summit Point Raceway (near Harpers Ferry - actually has 3 tracks at the same facility). about 90 minutes west of Baltimore.VIR (VIRginia Int'l Speedway) 7 hrs ride, but so worth the trip. literally a country club.

Extend out a few more hours:Mid Ohio (excellent course)Mont Tremblant (Quebec). Gorgeous.New Hampshire Int'l (Lawton). Like Pocono, has an infield course, but no hills

VIR and 'da Glen are featured on TV the most. I find Summit Point most convenient as it's more geared for car clubs. If you watch Motorweek, they do a lot of their testing on the Jefferson Circuit, which is wicked.

I go to Summit Point every year with the Audi Club. If you want the link, I'll pass it along.

And by the way, I don't trailer my car to the track, I drive them to/from.It's not a big deal.

NHIS (loudon) doesnt have an infield course, you actually go outside the oval, down a hill and around then back up and in, so it actually isnt flat

ive got a vid from there if you want it

i also live less than an hour from the glen if anyone ever comes up, and ill be trying to make it to some other tracks

Wow, it's not flat? Awesome. Can you post the vid? I'm gonna have to plan a trip there, (plus slap the buddy who told me not to bother trying Louden as it was "flat and boring")

The Glen is is in a beautiful area. Last time I was there I stayed at the infamous Seneca Lodge... (yuck)

That would be great. I also have some in-car videos I made at VIR, Summit Point and BeaveRun that I'd love to post, but they're on VHS.
