On the 2nd of July, a morning dove moved into one of my wife's hanging plants. Pretty soon here comes another dove, and they, well, you know...
Then the mother would sit like a statue in the middle of that plant until 2 weeks later, (7-16) when we saw the first signs of a little life in the nest. The male bird would come take over the nest for a few hours at 7 AM and 7 PM. every day. Good father.
The little bird was born naked, no feathers, nothing. Finally, when the little critter started getting a few feather sprouts, mom left for a short trip and I got the camera. This is what I found.
About August 1st. Jr. here will fly the nest and we can again water our plant, which as you can see, is pretty well shot by now.
This is the 5th. successful nest we've had in our back yard, but only the first one where the birds were comfortable with us being around.
Yeah, I love wildlife.
