Hey my name is Matt, I have been browsing the forums for a few weeks now and finally decided to join. I apologize about this long post but I wanted to get some feedback.

This is the situation. I got my Altima Coupe around the middle of May. When I was checking it over I noticed they did a very bad job with detailing the car so I mentioned that to the sales person and they said to bring it in anytime to have it detailed again. They were not able to do it again that day because they were too busy.

I wasn't able to bring the car in until about 3 weeks later. They cleaned it up again and it looked fine. I found out later that both times they used a spray wax which I was told does not protect the car as much. About 2 weeks after that I decided to wash the car and after drying it I found a few spots of tree sap on the car. I tried a tree sap removal product from turtle wax but it didn't do anything to the tree sap.

I took my car in about 2 weeks after that for the first oil change and they told me it was tree sap and nissan doesn't cover that but that I should wash it with cold water and wax it and it should come right off. I did this and the tree sap was still there. None of it came off.

I went back to the service center and talked to the Service Manager. He told me about how important it was with a black car to wax it all the time but he said they would be able to buff the tree sap out. It took about another 2 weeks before they could get somebody to do that.

They had my car the entire day to buff the tree sap out. When I picked it up they were closing and everyone was leaving but I checked it over without them there. More than half the spots were still there and I found two new spots where there used to be tree sap but now there were two chips in those spots.

I called the service area the next day and they told me to bring it in sometime and they will look at it but they said their service people didn't do anything more than hand wash and wax the car. This doesn't make sense because they were supposed to buff it out because hand washing and waxing it didn't work. They also told me the day I picked it up that they couldn't get one spot out because it had gotten into the clear coat. They told me just to put some wax on to cover it up. I think this sap may have been on my car from when I picked it up and that Nissan just covered it up with wax.

I still have to bring my car in to have them look at it once more but I wanted to get some feedback on what you think about this. My father has the same car but in red and my mother has a 2002 Altima Sedan and neither of those have this issue. Do you think the paint or something there could be defective? Again I apologize about the long post....

Save the time and money of clay baring and just put water on a dryer sheet (bounce, snuggle, etc) and rub it out. It sounds really odd, but believe me, it works - i've done it myself.

I'm not saying clay barring doesn't work, i'm just saying the dryer sheet remedy is a quick, in-the-home fix.

Once you're done with it, just make sure you wipe the area down with water.
