I don't know a lot about treadwear. Searched but didn't find what I was looking for. What's a good treadwear on a street tire? I'm gonna be rolling on my stock wheels for a while. The tires on them are 205/60/15. I don't like that fat tire stance that's happening there. I want a tire that looks more profile so I'm looking to get something like a 215/40/15 or a 205/40/15.

Don't run low profile tires on stock 15" wheels. Both a 215/40 and 205/40 would look retarded. I have larger sidewalls than that on my car and I am on 17s.

Treadware index is a rough reflection of stopping power especially in wet, however TireRacks wet braking is a better indicator if you are using a tire size/vehicle weight near their BMW test cars.

Not unusual to see 20-25 feet variations from 50 mph in the same size tires from best to worst.

Since 70% of braking is done by front the front tires are the most critical vs rear..............OEM always use weaker [load index] front tires to create understeer as the slip angles exceeds the overload [linear] point.

Calculate the extreme load [weight] on the front tires in a maximal braking situation................weak tires work because most panic stops are infrequent and last 3 seconds or less.

werd on the tire sizes

as far as treadwear...depends on what kind of milage youre looking to get out of your tires

a good compromise for the street would be around 300...and youll find most UHP wet weather tires are in this range

dry weather extreme performance are down near 200, and they just go lower from there as performance goes up
