If you took it to a reputable independent shop you would pay $100-$120 for a fluid exchange. For another $100 or so you'll get the filter changed and a chemical cleaning/flush. I paid close to $200 in CA for all of the above so $250 at the stealership is not too bad if you're getting a new filter and chemical flush out of the deal. If it's only a fluid exchange (11 quarts in pushing 11 quarts out) then it's pretty pricey, even for Beantown. Best to ask before the work is started.

No double posty!

You'll get the same answer here pretty much you got in the M45 Forum. Labor rates vary across country, so Iowa different from LA.

Your job is to make sure it is performed correctly by specifying what you want done. And a "flash" would be slang for an electronic reprogramming.

stop chasing me around , you freak. just jokin. Thanks a lot for the help.

the mechanick told me that i dont need to change filter and flushing will clean it.so they put 12 quarts = $9 each and $30 buck for bg trans flush kit, labor $110.that is all.thanks,again ,Caug.

Buy 18qt of ATF and perform 6 pan drain/refills at home and use the savings to perform other maintenance needs or for a steak dinner! You can usually get the atf much cheaper from a Nissan dealer instead of the Infiniti dealer.

And they are wrong. It will become progressively clogged with micrscopic sized particles. This has been documented.

Change it next time you perform theATF exchange. And if you run hard, in hills, in heat, or at high speed, you do need the auxiliary ATF cooler.

Did you check my update on your traction post?

Could I just do a flush by adding fluid through the oil cooler hose while draining it from the pan at about the same rate I add it? I would use a clear gradated bucket to see how much/rate I needed to add. Also I would add some BG flush prior to draining. I would use several quarts regular ATF as a secondary flush and then add 14 quarts Mobile one with car idling?

Would rather do it myself than trust some grease monkey.

I wouldnt try flushing using that method, may damage transmission because the fluid needs to be pushed from cooler line back to transmission{internal transmission pump normally does this}

Drain/fill run engine at idle for 2.0 minutes, drain/fill run engine at idle 2.00 minutes til you have repeated 6x and used 18qt of new atf and you will have replaced over 85% of the old atf with new. Repeat every 25,000 miles and you will maximise transmission life while avoiding the uncertainty of letting monkeys possibly screwing up you car using their machines, and save a boatload of $$$.

You can tell after talking to most shops that have a BG or Sun machine if htey are competent, and in my experience, i have yet to finid an incompetent one, but I always wash. If they balk at the pan drop filter replacement, then I would go elsewhere.

The problelm with drain refill is there is no pressure so even if you use BG Quick Clean for a chemical flush, the varnish just redeposits and also you are still left with 60% contaminanated ATF. With each drain and refill, the fluid is less contaminated, but 60% is still left over along with even more of the varnish and detritus. So find a shop and get 98% new ATF or waste time and ATF.

For the Sun machine, I have always asked a SnapOn jobber who has one. Most shops don't get them unless they know how to use them and in my case I have always had an ASE certified technician perform the service at shops with the Sun machine.

If there is any discernible degradation of the ATF or PS fluid, a mechanical exchange if far superior to extricating the old hydraulic fluid than gravity or a turkey baster, and a must if the fluid is noticeably changed.

The "flush" machines do a much better job flushing your wallet of cash and creating a instant profit center for repair shops than anything else. It wont be long before they invent a exhaust system flush machine and create a marketing program to develop the severe need for the service!
