Well, if you have 50K miiles and the ATF hasn't been exchanged propor to this, then I would get the internal filter, O ring, pan gasket, and one time use bolts replaced after inspection and replacement.
Don't think because you don't see much on the surface of the screen that there are not microscopic particles trapped within the screen. Cut it open and examine under a microscope to really know.
Do you know if they are using a BG or Sun machine? And don't be concerned if you have a difficult time distinguishing what is going in and what is coming out. And difference you can detect is an indicator of ATF degradation. Best if you really can't tell, tehn you have performed the service in time.
Using an auxiliary ATF cooler is a great benefit to extend ATF life by stabilizing temperatures. A lesson learned the hardway by early G50 Q45 customers. The tanks in the radiators are really just heat exchangers to woarm the ATF rapidly so torque lock up occurs earlier on a cold started engine. In warmer climates, they are by passed, but if you have real winters, then they can be run in series with the auxiliary after the heat exchanger tanks.
All my knowledge is courtesy of Q45tech's original reports on maintaining his RE4 over 173K miles so that the only degradation was shift times increased by .5 seconds. A must read for anyone who wants to know what prevntative maintenance will do for your car long term.
