I have a 98 Q with 90k on it. Perviously I had a 85 monte carlo SS (my baby).I put a trany cooler in my SS and never had a single problem. Now I know that Nissan makes good cars,I'm just wondering if I should put one in the Q. If so can someone plz tell me a good brand or one thats recommended.BTW I'm new to this forum so Hello! to whoever is reading this.

Welcome to NICO!

A transmission cooler is highly recommended! Do a search here at NICO for some of the available options that people have tried ... I had a B&M on my old Q (it was a 1995 Q45, so the model number may not be relevant for you.)

Welcome to another Y33 (97-01) Q45 owner! We just keep growing in numbers.

Anyhow, I don't have one yet either, but I am running Redline syn ATF so that helps and I live in costal L.A. county, so it never get's over 80 degrees anyhow. I am gonna get the B&M eventually, look for member Maxnix, he's got a great install of the B&M on a Y33 Q.

Highly recommended as the OEM cooler is a joke. B&M70264 in series on my wife's 2000. Might want to consider that for EP since you do have temperature extremes.

Look for intallation pictures under my board name in member's rides gallery.

I know this is off topic, however should an external tranny cooler be added to all auto trans? If so, would the same B&M product be recommended for a light-duty auto: Nissan 240SX?

Sandwiched in between the radiator and condenser is the standard method. I prefer the protection of the active cooler location and not increasing the thermal loading of the radiator.

Really the only thing about a stacked plate is that it can produce as much cooling with a smaller cooler..... So a 17k GVWR stacked plate will be much smaller than a 17k GVWR tube in fin...

REGARDLESS, ***any*** tranny cooler you get is better than stock, and will probably be just as good.... The B/Ms however are the bets of the bunch

Maxnix gotta Question,is your cooler behind your fog lights?I'm not a mechanic but it seems to be real tight by the radiator like theres no room.I dont have a good mechanic but I took the Q to 1 place and they looked at it as like my Q was from a diff. planet. As soon as they told me they never seen a car like mine (under the hood) I told them thx and have a nice day.Now my search for a new shop is underway...I'm so damn pissed My damn infiniti dealer wanted almost $600 to change the fluid in the trany and the diff....no offense to anyone but F@$% those guys

Well, it's right below the filter box on the intake.

Good move to leave those clowns. At least they were honest.
