Transporting an engine

I'm going to be picking up my engine pretty soon and im trying to figure out what the best method is for transporting it in the back of a pickup truck.. I hope others have done this and can let me know what they did haha. Heres my plan.

Bring spare front crossmember and bolt the engine to it as if it were in the car.. then put that in the back of the truck lol... do you think this would work? Someone else told me to get a crate and cut out the section where the oil pan is... Id rather the engine not be touching at all.... Please post pics even if you have them haha

Last time I did it, I sat the engine on a tire in the back of a pickup and tied it down using ratchet straps.

put it on a pallet use thick wire and tie it down just as if it was shipped to you , if your worried about the oil pan get some foam or something soft to protect it . Your making it 2 hard on your self .

No point brah, too much work. Get an old tire, and straps. Put the oil pan into the tire and strap it. Ive done it atleast 15 times, never a prob. Btw, the crossmember idea will prob still let the motor slide around on the bed. The tire holds it.
