Hello all,New guy here with a new project We have a 2000 Skyline R34 here at the shop that is in need of some help. The car was originally a jump car from the F&F movie so it isnt in the best shape ever But is a nice promotional piece.

Apparently the car needs a "Transponder key" as I believe the ECU has an immobilizer feature and is not running the fuel pump at least. Car will crank over however Im told. (Im just getting into this project) From what I understand this is how it works without the transponder key.

It appears the local Nissan dealer here might be able to make a key but not reprogram it SO Im digging for suggestions anyone gone through this before in the US?? Id really rather get a good key for it. But have considered just running a whole new engine management system. Which would solve any running problems. Kind of a PITA when I just need a key. But as the car was a "stunt car" it has been hacked up a little. Thanks for any help guys. Ill be lurking abit from time to time researching these cars a bit.

I'm not going to ask why you don't have the key in the first place Well list the modifications done to the R34, it would not be hard to get a second key if you had all the infomation and rights to the car. It would not be cheap but people lose there keys with transponders all the time. To replace it is very easy because they are the owner of the car. In order to hack that system you would start by replacing lock cylinder, the ecu, and reset any anti theft system by syncing the new hardware to the anti-theft system it has. A fuel cut is a saftey setting for theft. Like GM has the passlock system it is more complicated than you think. Why cant you get a new transponder key by the corresponding company?

Im under the impression changing the cluster may help? We had a guy in the other day to reprogram it but his software only works on USDM stuff. FOund the same issue with the Nissan dealer also. It isnt as easy as some may think. USDM VINs are 18digit and the reprogrammers are based off the VIN however JDM is 12 digit vin therefore most USDM reprogrammers wont even understand or some $%^&

I wasnt up front whenhe came by I had a subie to tune Friday. So not 100% on how that all went. Ill talk to Scott when he comes in and see if what you have will work. Ive still got to order another wing and new decal kit for it as he wants it back to how it looked in the movie.

I have the software to program the keys. You just need to get the GT-R key cut and then I can program the NATS to work with that transponder key.

I tried some other Nissan keys at one point, but the only one I had much luck with was a genuine GT-R key.
