I have a 95 standard all stock, no mods. Lately i have been accelerating quite briskly and have been redlining the first couple of gears. When i shift gears i can feel the trany vibrating quite a bit, through the shift knob. I am just curious is this bad for the trany/engine? Everything runs very smooth when i am just driving around town etc., . . . it feels so good to accelerate, but it feels so bad feeling the transmition vibrate so much.

thanks

I dont have any inside knowledge here but maybe your driveshaft is bent?

i dont know all the things underneath are pretty sturdy. . . maybe its just that the knob is part of the driveshaft and the engine makes a good amount of vibration at 5500. . .

put it this way, should you be able to feel any vibrations through the shifter, or should it be smooth no matter what gear or rpm you are in/at?

no you will feel some vibration through your shifter that is normal. but it should by no means be harsh.

ok after i changed my clutch, a few days later my driveshaft gets bent and almost made a new air vent underneath my car. i got it replaced for a reman parts + labor for $300. but they only checked the driveshaft side. the shop is located 30 miles coz it was the nearest shop where my car got messed up and i dont want to drive all the way back there with paranoia of driveshaft breaking again. my shifter shakes like crazy 1st and 2nd gear i really feel a terrible vibration. im scared as f*** coz i dont want to spend $300 on another driveshaft. SO: new driveshaft + horrible vibration = wut do u guys think is wrong? i think it unbalanced so im thinking of putting new transmission mounts to atleast solve it. any thoughts?

unboly the drive shaft at the diff rotate it 180 degress with out rotating the diff and boly it back up.try driving it see if that helps your situation.

This is a diagnostic/drivability issue. I am moving it to the "online mechanic forum"
