Nico sticker

Ok, transmition. As you all know, my car has been sitting in the garage since I cant drive it until May. But, everyweekend I take the car out of the garage, and drive it in the driveway. Ok, so anyways. Since last week, the gearshift has been making a VERY weird noise. It sounds like a spring up sound from a toy. I uploaded a video clip (sound happens at :27). So anyways, when i just start the car, and put it into reverse, it makes the noise. Then after a while it stops. So now, i put it in Drive today, and it was really weird. I put it in gear, gave it a bit of gas, then it "tripped" and lost "power" (transmition), and made the weird noise. What is going on??? Do i just need more transmission fluid????

Only you would post something about a transmission (keep studying) and a sticker in the same post.

Have you checked your fluid level? Fluid is the most important thing for auto transmissions, the fluid is hydraulic fluid that drives the torque converter and almost everything else in the transmission. So if your low on fluid, it's important to keep it full, and flush it at the right intervals. The transmissions in the J30's seem to be a problem in these cars, so maintaining the transmission is very important. My car has gone through 2 transmissions, but the previous owner did not properly maintain it. Always use the Nissan ATF, never cheap out on your ATF.

Check your ATF, if it smells burnt, it's bad. (burnt ATF smells really nasty)

If i remember right, there is a spring in the shift lever, inside the transmission... something could be wrong there. If there is something wrong with the gear select mechanism it might be causing your problems. Could be something wrong with the transmission, it's kinda hard to diagnose automatics. I couldn't really hear the sound all too well from the video.

You could take it to a shop, and have them use a Nissan Consult scanner or ODBI/II scanner, they should be able to diagnose it with the right scan tool.
