Why are you still wasting time asking which line is the output of transmission, when all you need to do is try the method I suggested days ago to you of placing a sandwich baggie on each line and firing up motor for 10-15 seconds and see which line is output by seeing which baggie becomes full of ATF? You are procrastinating big time here, must be brain freeze from being in Alaska?

Hi Chris,

I'm at work so no picture till later. It's Ivory Quartz with the Brown/Tan 2-tone interior - $2600. It'll need tires, but comes with 16x7.5 summer wheels and original 15x6.5 snow wheels. I'm almost afraid to sell it because it's been more reliable than the '95, but it's gotta go.

Chris, the leather and interior is in very good to excellent condition. The back seat is literally in new condition. I don't think the 2 previous owners had young kids. The leather in front is very good. It has only been treated 2 or 3 times in the 7 years we've had it and shows some wrinkles, but no cracks through the seat covers. The carpet is excellent.

The steering rack has a leak, but it doesn't seem to be the shaft seals, but rather around the solenoid. I've put some Lucas Power Steering sealer stuff in it and it seems to have helped.

A lot of the light bulbs for the white lettering on the switches are burnt out. I don't think those bulbs can be replaced, so I bought most of the switches from another NICO member to swap, but never got around to it. They'll go with the car. All the other lights in the car work properly - even the "Low Fuel" message started working for the first time ever with the latest fuel pump installation.

I think the R134a refrigerant/oil needs to be topped up. The compressor I had put in last year makes a little noise sometimes after engine start-up, but it's really only noticeable at idle. It still blows cold. Of course I only paid $85 for the rebuilt compressor, so if I had to pay it again, I would and not complain.

Here's the write-up for the For Sale, but it's not listed, yet. BTW, our gallons are bigger than yours so take 1 mpg off what I said.

"4.5 Litre 278 HP V8, 4 speed automatic, Traction Control, ABS, 23 mpg (hwy) & 20 mpg (combined city/hwy). One of the BEST maintained Q45's in Canada with all Synthetic fluids changed/flushed regularly for the last 7 years. Maintenance done by Orlado Auto Service. In excellent condition for it’s age and very good condition for a car of any age.

Updates include metal-backed timing chain guides, rear stabilizer bar, 1995 transmission with 1st gear start Transmission Control Unit, B&M External Transmission Cooler, 16” Eagle Alloy wheels for summer high performance tires (245/50ZR16) (currently on original wheels with Michelin Pilot Alpin snow tires), Bronze 35% tint & Alpine AM/FM Single CD stereo.

New fuel pump & knock sensors in 2008; battery, A/C compressor, front/rear brake pads, antenna mast & wiper blades in 2007; spark plugs (due again next year), radiator, steering rack boots, front/rear Tokico shocks, master cylinder, Daytime Running Light module, #1 fuel injector & coil, alternator and under plenum hoses in 2005; timing chain guides (old ones were still in good shape) & oil pump drive chain/sprockets and coolant pipe cap in 2003; rear transmission mount, thermostat & TCS relays in 2002; front sway bar bushings, front upper links, #3 fuel injector, oxygen sensors & under plenum hoses in 2001.

This car is highway driven daily. It has 315,000 kms (195,600 miles) and is completely reliable, quiet, smooth & comfortable. It has the styling of a Jaguar, the performance of a BMW and solid Japanese reliability. It has always passed Air-Care tests the FIRST time and with clean numbers."

You should be able to go to your local auto parts store and buy a cheap plastic vacuum pump that is set up to vacuum bleed brakes. With it, you use vacuum suck the brake fluid from the calipers at the bottom of the system instead of using pressure from the master cylinder to force it out from the top. FWIW, this method bleeds the system much better than trying to force the little tiny air bubbles out of the calipers by pushing them out from the top.

The vacuum pump is great for removing fluids from reservoirs that have no drains too, as well as testing for vacuum leaks.

Anyone who works on their own cars should have one of these vacuum pumps, along with a mechanic's stethoscope. They are among the most useful tools a DIY'er can have.

Hey Sub Zero,

StarPD's advice on the vacuum pump was right on, it's easy and simple. I recently did mine with a one man bleeder which I bought years ago for less than 5 bucks. Nothing to it, I did all 4 wheels in less than 90 mins and that included jacking each wheel up and removing the tires.

Good luck with the cooler, I am about two weeks or so behind you on the install.

Would it be too much trouble for you to shoot some good interior pics! the car really is nice looking, i love the exterior color its my favorite color in the Q other than theburgandy champane color. I love my interior color, just not crazy about the dark emerald black/green color. My interior color is called EGGSHELL-WHITE,its my favorite interior color that infiniti put in the Q45!!! I hope your not in a big hurry to sell it,im gonna try and come up with the money, if you dont sell it before this time next month id really like to see about buying it from you,if it checks out good, which iom sure it does it sounds like you take really good care of your car as i do. So many people dont have pride in their car and take care of it like they should!! thanks for the pics GLENN...guess ill get back to work on my girl, gotta get the transmission fluid issue fixed,im gonna try and loop the hoses and see if that it circulates then!

Chris,

I can take some interior pics tomorrow. I left the car at the shop for the coil replacement and can't get to it today. I'm hoping to have it sold by the end of the month, as it costs almost $100/month to keep insured. So far it's been worth it to have a reliable back-up car, but now, hopefully, I can trust the '95. It may now be time to post this in the NICO Classifieds.

You know it's easier to find a green car than a white car in the snow, right?

Loop the 2 lines to confirm no internal issues, then do yourself a favour and put on an external cooler - simpler and more effective.

Yeah, it's been nosing above 50 around here lately. I need to get the cooler. I just got my box of parts from IOS today (and a very nice owner's cap). I guess I'll wait and put the cooler on myself.
