Jut happened yesterday was driving the vehichle and when I stopped it would not go into gear. After a few minutes it went into gear but sounded very rough in 1st gear then when it went into 2nd it was ok. I drove it home but when I tried to drive it the next day I could not get it into gear. Any help?

When you press the brake do you hear a clicking near the shifter? If not pull the #14 Fuse in the Fuse Box and see if it is burnt out. If it is burnt out replace the fuse and you should be able to shift into gear.

It moves into gear just won't go forward or reverse, It will for a while but when you have to stop it won't go just reves the engine but no movement.

Think the transmission went out or is going out?

My transmission cooling ling had gotten clogged and caused the transmission to ovverheat and basically distroyed it. I paid about 1800 to get it rebuilt and they installed a stand alone cooler based on the radiator was not doing a good enough job.
Hope that helps.

How's the level and color of the transmission fluid?

1. Drive around for 10 minutes in the city after the transmission is at operating temperature.
2. Park on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
3. With P selected, shift through every gear and return to P.
4. Pull the transmission dipstick with the engine idling, wipe it clean, reinsert it completely, and read the level. It must be within the notched area labeled "HOT". Check for fluid contamination after wiping on a paper towel.

The fluid should be red, and not smell burnt.
