My transmission wiring harness doesn't look anything like the SR one. I changed my speed sensor but there are still a couple plugs that don't match anything and a couple that just don't seem to be used... what gives? Which harness do i use?

Use the KA lower/transmission harness I think.

If I remember correctly, I heard that either one will work (Yury from HT) but they recommend using the KA harness. Didn't you also say that you had a auto transmission with your KA?

No what Rob is referring to is the fact that the plugs for the SR reverse and 5th gear sensor are different than the KA. And there is one more sensor beside the speed sensor that I haven't identified. I guess you could splice into the SR transmission harness if you have it, or switch the plugs in from your KA transmission. I haven't figure out how to get them out of the transmission though (The little cylindrical sensors with no screws or anything to get a wrench on).

exactuially unf.... does it work with just the speed sensor hooked up? I'de like reverse lights but it won't kill me. And the 5th gear sensor... what happens if that isn't connected.

Don't know I'm wondering the same thing you are, but my car starts and runs without any of those connected, so I'm not worrying too much

Use either harness, if you use the KA one, just cut off the plug connectors and solder on the SR ones. KA harness will have an extra un-used plug for 5th gear (?) switch... I know the SR has one less sensor anyway.

The advantage of using the KA harness is it will plug into all the connectors by the battery properly, some SR ones are different.

my ka harness won't plug into my transmission. my SR harness is all wrong. I'm just gonna plug in what i can and go. It woulda been a good idea to solder BEFORE it was in the car... too bad i hadn't heard of this either

Pull the reverse and 5th gear sensor out of the KA transmission and screw them into the SR one. The whole sensorwill come out if you twist on it with a wrench. The 'extra' one is the 4th gear speed sensor, you don't need that. just swap the plugs around and the KA harness will go right on, and that is MUCH easier than re-wiring the SR harness to fit the USDM chassis.

I know what ROB means...they don't plug up. They do, but the SR will plug in the wrong plug by the fuse box. You just gotta rewire it. I had an auto before so there...

Anyways, I just bought an 89 KA speed sensor for my s13 SR and I hooked up the wires, but my speed shows on the speedometer was...doubled. So i'm going like 30, it shows 60. Does anyone know what's the hell is wrong?

are the 89' speed sensors the same as the 91+ DOHC speed sensors? if they are different, then that could be your problem

weird. Cause s13 uses the same transmission...I guess the current is different? Thanks though. So now I'm guessing that my S13 Speed sensor is for sale.
