transmission wiring

hey all, i own a 92 240sx. Aafter some searching, i discovered that the reason i cant bring the car above 5000 rpm's in gear is due to a faulty 5th and possibly 4th gear (i think) sensor. i also read that you can simply unplug the sensor and the car should return to normal function. i was wondering which cable or cluster (i havent been under the car to get a good look at the transmission yet) i need to unplug, out of the 5 for the 5th gear sensor, and when i unplug them, i do that at the transmission and not somewhere else (ecu etc..), and when i do this will it affect any other aspect of the car. thanks in advanced
