hey all, after some searching, i discovered that the reason i cant bring the car above 5000 rpm's in gear is due to a faulty 5th and possibly 4th gear (i think) sensor. i also read that you can simply unplug the sensor and the car should return to normal function. i was wondering which cable or cluster (i havent been under the car to get a good look at the transmission yet) i need to unplug, out of the 5 for the 5th gear sensor, and when i unplug them, i do that at the transmission and not somewhere else (ecu etc..), and when i do this will it affect any other aspect of the car. thanks in advanced

Well, nothing's faulty. Those sensors are SUPPOSED to prevent you from exceeding 5000rpm in 4th and 5th gear. But yes, unplugging them will remove the limiter with no adverse effects as far as I know

When I did my auto-manual swap I didn't want to attempt wiring up the gear sensors, so I didn't and haven't had anything go wrong. I didn't unplug mine, when I got the transmission each sensor had a couple of inches of wire hanging off, so I just let them hang. Might be easier for you to just snip the wires and put a wire nut on the end so they don't touch anything. Make sure you have the right wires before you go cutting though!

I have the JWT Cams and Tuned ECU and when they reprogram your ECU they eliminate the fuel cut and move redline from 6500rpms to 7000rpms because the cams don't reall come on fully until 4000rpms. My stock S14 SE gauge stops at 120mph, I was bieng paced my friend in a 94 FD and at about 6400 rpms he said Iwas going around 138mph!

lrb_2000 is right though, there really is no reason to go that fast but it does make you squirt knowing your 240SX can! Refer to Speedo Pic attached and that was kind of what it looks like!
