Hello all,
I have a 2009 FX35 with 43000 miles. Just got it checked at the dealer everything runs fine.
My question is -- with the car running, from park, if you press down on the brake hard, is the transmission supposed to lock up??? Because that is what happened to me today. I noticed this happening for the first time this morning as an 18 wheeler was backing into me. he ended up hitting me, i'm fine, front is mashed up, it was his fault, whatever...
it's unfortunate though for both of use because it could have been avoided. I saw him backing up and in my excitement I stepped on the brake hard to put the transmission into reverse and that's when it locked up. I could not move the shifter at all. I'm thinking maybe the anti-lock brakes are activating?? i was able to recreate the same lock up by hitting the breaks from park again.
this was only a small fender bender (i'm sure it will be big $$$ though) but I can't beleive this is supposed to be designed to work this way? what if that truck was coming at me fast???? any insight is appreciated. thanks.
