Wanted to visit the "Q Gurus" before my next move..'94 W/out tcs more than reg svc. @ twice a year for a 10K mile year or every other year for a 5-7K mile year.

Car currently driven about 200 miles in about 3 mo (remove cobwebs) has 99750 on the od I've owned it since '01 w/ 51 K miles

Recently replaced ac cond fan mtr, summerized ac, and new radiator

I noticed 1st gear was lagging a bit long and there was also a whine like a low rpm turbo coming from the bell housing assumed to be the torque conv.

Pulled back out and drove to work by the time I left for a morning mtg my car stopped engaging fwd or rev.

Called up my buddy who happens to spclz in trannies who told me to pull the pan to see what was in it that my clutches were probly shot

havent yet done the self diag or anything besides get it to his shop to put it on the lift (suit and tie day)

Question is does this sound particularly familiar to anyone (didn't quit find it in archived or recent searches) and for $2800 (1800 if I do most of it) do I put a few more dollars in and upgrade to high perf. do I look for jdm or u pull it (with some warranty?) bottom line best option...I can make a wrench stand up and sing the Star Spangled Banner, I just lack mental knowledge/training on the subject...and am on the oposite end of wealthy!

Just looking to get the stallion out of the stable!

With the almost non existant amount of time{miles} you drive this car, is it worth even having it? Not sure I understand the logic of spending 2-3 thousand bucks on a 15 year old car that you really dont drive, especially if money is tight, as you state?

I would try the AT-CHECK, but that will only tell you if there is anything electronically bad with the transmission.

Then I would move on to a BG or a sun Machine transmission flush.

If those yield nothing then I would say your transmission is toast or seek some one with a laptop consult.

It was a car that took 13 years to get and I care more for it than my 06 QX56. I enjoy driving it very much, but restrict it to out of town business meetings, funerals, and the ocassional I want to go fast today - keep the rats out - runs.

I also live in a state where you have to travel 20 miles to a gas station with NO ETHANOL, more potholes than trffic lights and people tend to bang your car just because it's nice...It's about the love not the logic; but I still have to be logical...you feel me?

A transmission flush will screw a transmission over if it's already on it's way out. I wouldn't touch a trans flush at this point.

You can get used Q transmission's for 4-500 (I found one for $200 one time) and given the amount of time you drive it I wouldn't be dumping very much into it.

Who says a transmission flush will kill a transmission?

You don't believe in "The varnish and all the other crap is what holds the transmission together" do you?

Yea the grit is what make it work...if you put fresh fluid in it it'll start slippin

Had a thourough flush screen Oring etc about 10k miles or less ago - all infinity fluids prior to that it was done about twice a year then every other year since day one

Total to anyone who has read the posts on this and its preceding forums!

But with no maintenance history provided for the transmision, who can tell?

You use your car well, sir! Might need to step up the fluid change intervals based on time, though.

Has crossed my mind ...time seems to go by much quicker than miles these days. This is however my version of the '69 Camaro project car I always wanted but couldn't afford.

I plan to always have a Q...Can't get over the timeless expression on peoples faces as the blood is forced to the back of their heads....right after they ask me what kind of car it is and I say just a big 'ol luxury sedan-get in!
