Well my transmission is pretty beat up, it doesn't always want to shift and it's just not holding up to well. Then today the fork connecting my slave cylinder to my throw out bearing broke. So I have to pull the transmission to fix it. So would it be worth it to rebuild my transmission for 900 bucks, or buy a used one with 100k miles on it for 400, or one with 140k miles for 200. Or should I just get an aftermarket one. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

It all depeds on where you are, and how many miles are on your transmission. If your mileage is high, scrap it. On ebay, autosportsunlimited.com has a -100k transmission for $150 plus shipping. If you're on the west coast, shipping puts it at $370 plus install, but that's below what you've been quoted. I can't personally say anything about ASU, but they've sold a number of parts on ebay and everyone seems happy. I'm Looking for a transmission myself, so if you get any info one way or the other, let me know. You can email me at [email protected]

Just to give you some comparison, I had 180K on mine when I grenaded 5th gear on the freeway at 80+mph and blew a hole in the bell housing. Prior to the "great catastrophe" I was having trouble shifting into 1st and rev. I became a master at double clutching just to get the Rynomobile in gear. So I can totally relate to where you're at.
