I just purchased a new 2012 G37XS, I find the shifting from a slow start is herky jerky, seems to rev up high, 3000 rpm, then drops. I had 2 altimas before and found the shifting very smooth. Is this normal?

The altimas were a different style transmission...a CVT. The Infiniti has a normal-gear transmission. The firmness depends on throttle position and speed.
I agree with Telco, check out a different car to see if it's just you getting used to the transmission, or an issue with your car.

Also the transmission learns your driving stlye in a couple weeks... so if you havent drove the car at least a month its still learning and everything should smooth out. The dealer can reset the learning or you can do a battery pull and let it start over.
I'm thinking if you drive a different car that has been test driven more than your car you will fell different shifting, (usually very quick shifting as people are playing with the car) but doent nessacerly mean your G's transmission is bad, just hasnt been driven enough to have any sort of profile stored.

I think your correct, it does drive differently now, 3 weeks. Shifts smoother, I had 2 Altima's previously with crv transmission. I'm surprised the G37xS has this learning ability, I'll ask the service manager when I see them for the first oil change. Thanks.
