Im probably starting to get annoying now but I have a question. How do you know when your transmission is starting to go.
I have heard to listen to the engine with the windows rolled up for loose bearings and if it stops when you press the clutch it prob means the transmission is on its way out. Any truth to this?

when you start to get gear grind when shifting with the pedal fully depresses you ahve bad synchro's, a grinding whirring noise when you press in the clutch is a throwout bearing

What is a good indication that your transmission may be on its way out.

generally if you have a lot of noise when in gear or difficulty getting into gear wthout grinding, manual tranmissions aren't like auto's they don't gerally "fail" the sybcro's will go out over time especially if nto driven properly, btu the support bearings almost never fail, many of these cars have over 200 k miles with no synchro or bearing issues
