Well my transmission shifts really hard from 1st to 2nd, It only does it like half the time i drive it but. The car has around 190,000miles. I think ive had it since a little over 100 and i know since ive had it the filter and fluid have never been changed. I cant really say about previous owner though. But i was wondering if it would be bad to change the filter at this point? Or maybe just drain and put new fluid in?

Yeah, I'd definitely do a filter and fluid change.

You may also want to have a shop do a "real" fluid change for you. You can't get all the fluid out in the driveway. But some shops have machines that'll run clean fluid through the trans for a while and make sure ALL the old fluid is out.100% fresh fluid and a new filter will probably make a huge difference.http://www.bgfindashop.com will help you find a shop nearby that can do a trans service for you.

What color is your trans fluid? If it's dirty, it's already past due.

it made a huge difference for me!!

ROYAL PURPLE is my suggestion, but it costs 2 or 3 times the price as the more regular brands.

Total capacity is 7 and 7/8 quart. If you do the change in your driveway, you'll probably only get about 4 quarts out. Just measure what comes out and replace the same, then keep an eye on the dipstick.
