i was just wondering if the sr20 uses the same trans as the stock 240 engine. I am asking because my trans is going bad on my 240 and im not really in the financial state i need to be to ddrop a sr20 in, but i can deal with the transmission acting up if im gonna have a different one when i get my sr20, but if its the same trans then ill replace it now.

The actual KA transmissions will fit into an SR bellhousing but the KA bellhousing will not fit onto an SR. If you buy a new transmission now then you can either sell it whole or swap the KA syncros into the SR housing.

If you can live with it until you do the sr swap save the bucks for the swap. You will have to have a new transmission for the sr20 and in most cases it comes with the sr.

Anyone know if the input shaft bearing from the KA trans will fit into an SR and if not, where could I get a bearing for an SR transmission. Thanks

well lets see. one is american, one is japanese. you decide. lol. that could be tought since its similar to the truck 5mt but its gonna depend on who you ask. i know japanese parts are usually tougher.A customer brought in his '02 WRX with 3 & 5th gone so instead of ordering one from subaru we expressed one from japan. its holding stronger than the US version. the guy raced alot and has beat to hell and still pulls strong. heh.
