Hello my car doesn't seem to shift from 2-3 until at least 6000RPM or I let off the gas pedal a little bit when under hard acceleration. What could be the cause of this and is this a sign of the transmission about to go?

Probably. Best to post more service history and maintenance history information. Year? Mileage? Detailed description of behavior.

What Max says. Plus do a search for transmission diagnostic since the search button is your friend run the results past the fine people on here. Don't give up on it yet.
