The lowdown on the Blocker rings (the brass pieces are actually called blocker rings.). I recently rebuilt my SR transmission with parts from a 92 KA transmission. I purchased the kit from Zobroda ( i beleive its spelt this way) out of minnesota. The kit came with front and rear seal, 1-5 gear blocker rings, all bearings and some clips for the collars. All of the bearings fit perfectly as did the seals. The exception were the blocker rings. Unless I was shipped the wrong products, the blocker rings for 1st and 2nd gear are different. In the SR transmission 2nd and 3rd gear are a 3 piece blocker ring (2 brass and 1 steel) and I was only sent the 3 piece for one of the gears, so I had to reuse the old one. Thus assuming that the KA transmission only has 1 3 piece blocker ring set not 2. Also on the SR transmission the 1st and 4th gear blocker rings are the same size. I was shipped 2 differnent sizes for 1st and 4th gear. So I ended up re-using the 4 gear blocker ring. The 5 th gear blocker ring works fine for the SR transmission. The kit was priced at $125 ,with school discount, which is really good for a nice kit. You might be able to just order the blocker rings by themselves (which I wish I would have done.) to get the right quantity. Ill try to post more if i think of it. Hope this helps!
Another option is to order a complete rebuilt kit for a KA trans and buy a used KA trans ans swap the bellhousing from the SR to the KA trans.
