I would like some experienced advice on this idea. I have an 06 AT g35 coupe, a friend of mine will sell me his 6 speed transmission for 300 bucks. He swapped an LS3 into his 04 g35 coupe and has no need for the transmission. I'm wanting to convert mine to a 6 speed. I'm curious as to find out if I do this swap will I have a constant CEL or is there a way to set it up so I won't have that and my gear indicator still works on the gauge cluster.

Both are probably possible, except the G35X would have to be converted to RWD probably.

Both are probably going to be expensive and long projects.

I'm not sure on what all the computers control with the AT, so may have to buy all 6MT computers and swap them out.
Along with:
2 pedals, drilling firewall
clutch master/slave/line
Not sure on difference in AT/6MT flywheel/crank mounting
Center console change out with 6MT setup

Someone has probably done the 5AT to 6MT on a non-AWD Sedan or Coupe, should be able to search the internetz.

Yeah A friend of mine is getting me everything for about 700 bucks and ill have a 6 speed. I just dont want a CEL on at all times and a useless shift monitor in my gauge cluster >.< I'm new to infiniti s but ive been working at a toyota dealership so just looking for insight.
Thanks

I've heard of people doing this for around 10k. There is a lot of fab work needed to get the transmission to fit. You will also need a new wiring harness and ECU (or aftermarket). Unless you have a show car, it's really not recommended...just get a 6 speed.

10k? Seems a bit out there for just a transmission swap. I know the firewall will need to be drilled but the undercarriage needs fabricating? Luckily this buddy of mine has all I need to get rolling hes also including a bunch of other goodies just for the simple fact to clear space. I hope it doesnt come out to be that pricey

Parts list: 6MT Transmission, Clutch, Flywheel, Clutch line, OEM clutch hardline, OEM clutch fluid reservoir, 6MT driveshaft from a G35, 6MT shifter, Throwout bearing, 6MT wiring harness or modify the auto harness if you know what you are doing, Clutch pedal assembly, Brake pedal assembly, Center console, Shifter trim, Center console sides (the sides of the radio), shift knob, shift boot. Probably other miscellaneous things as well. You do need to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter since the automatic is a drive-by-wire design. You can use the OEM ECU but you will have a code which you can probably get rid of via a Uprev...else source a 6mt ECU (if they use the same cabling....you will need to check).

Here is another thread with additional information concerning the GTM kit/whatever...: info-needed-g35-5at-to-6mt-transmission ... 57272.html

It's good to know there's people with the same passion for cars as I have.

This is not an easy swap...custom fab shops have done it and made it look OEM...but it's pricy.
