What exactly is holding it up from going in? Maybe make a make shift transmission jack with a floor jack. Use the jack and maybe a piece of wood and get the transmission on it so that its pretty much at its center of gravity and use a strap or something to secure it from falling off. Then, roll it under and raise it up and work it into place. You can try putting a shot of WD-40 on the dowel pins if they need it. I am so glad I have a lift for stuff like this. Jack stands FTL.

if they are identical it should go back in. did you change clutch or anything. if so maybe thats not aligned right. worse case get a micrometer and compare input shafts. other than that should go in.

Pshaw. I can swap out a trans faster on stands than I can on a lift.

OP, make sure that you have the trans level with the motor when you're putting it in. Also, be sure to roll it a few degrees left and right. You may be getting hung up on the splines.

Scream obscenities while trying to install the trans. That works for me.
