Transmission Swap

Okay so i was going up a hill and my engine was reving but i was going backwards.... so obviously i am going to have to replace my transmission because the 1st and 2nd gears are fried. This is my question. If i am going to replace my transmission anyway... would it be better to go ahead and switch it to a manual transmission while i have the automatic transmission out... and how hard or how much would it cost (roughly) to have the swap done. Also is there ANY websites anyone knows of where i can get the parts to do this.. i have been looking for about a week now and havnt found any so any advice or help you can give me would help greatly - its a 1985 model with an N/A engine.

yes it can be done but for the amount of parts needed, you're best off locating a parts car to dontate all thebits, even better yet is sell the auto and buy a man trans car

if you can find a decent parts car tahts your best bet, and you'll still either have to swap the entire engine ahrness or bypass the neutral saftey swithc and wire int he clutch saftey switch

Automatics? Those don't exist, they are an urban legend.

What you have is a pussymatic transmission. And what your Z needs is a manual swap. As previously stated, you would be well off finding a parts car. Might be able to part it completely and recoup your losses.
