I recently purchased a 1997 S14 SE. It's beautiful, black, some extremely minor damage to the paint, but other than that it's immaculate. The only problem I have is that it's an Automatic.I was wondering if anyone in the Los Angeles/Orange County areas knew of a shop I might be able to take it to to get it swapped to a 5-speed manual. Future plans for this car include a SR20DET, Transmission and LSD from an S15. I was wanting opinions if I should just get the transmission swapped at the same time, or do it stage by stage? It's a beautiful car, picked it up for $8,000....but it does have 96K miles on it. Oh well, I didn't think that it'd be much of a problem since I'm going to be switching many things on it anyway *suspension, exhaust, engine, transmission, so on and so forth*

BTW, I have a friend that says I was ripped off...just want other opinions on it as well.

Thanks.

you should prolly do manual swap at same time as motor if your actually gonna do the motor. If not let me know, i have a 96 240 trans with 38 k on it, a recently resurfaced flywheel, and a clutch masters stage 3 clutch with around 1200 miles on it.

i'm going to swap my auto to a 5speed in 2003 hopefully. i have a '95. i've heard that a '96 transmission wont' go w/ a '95, and vise versa. well, i have more than heard, i've seen. my friend has a '96 that had a '95 5spd. swapped in and it wouldn't run right. so it might be the same thing w/ a '97 taking a '96 transmission. i don't know why it would have a difference, because they are the same motor and etc etc, but i'm just lettin you know.

no you didnt get ripped off. you got a very good deal. i just did kelley's blue book and it priced your car at $9500. be that it will be off cuz of zip code and depending on the actual options the car has, it may even be around $10000. so, no you got a fine deal on a great car :)
