lately i've been having problems with my transmission. When i put it in reverse then i stick it in first gear it's hard to move the shifter out of first or it's hard to engage into first. anyone know how to correct this problem? Also when i'm shifting from second to third sometimes i feel it grind when the rpms are over 2000, but when i'm coasting in nutreul and pop it into 3rd there's no feeling of grinding on the shifter? could it be i need a new clutch?

sounds to me like you might have some synchro wear...

if that is the problem all you can do about it is either get another transmission or rebuild that one =/

you can try changing the transmission fluid. Something like Redline 80W90 can help (but make sure whatever you get is not GL5.) however, this only improves the symptoms, the problems are still there.

My friend's been telling me a lot of FWD SR guys swear by GM SynchroMesh. I thought there weren't any synchros in 1st or Reverse though...

that is a good point. I always assumed that is why those two are usually a little "harder" to get in than the rest of the gears, but if it is a real struggle then it is not right. Maybe a fluid change will help anyway, it will help with the 3rd problem...
