Before I take my car to the transmission shop I thought i'd see if anyone has had this problem. When going from a stopped position into acceleration, (sporadically) my car will not shift until it hits 5 rpms and it sounds like its going to blow up! Any ideas?

First thing to check is fluid level and if you've changed it in the last year or so.

It's been so long since I drove an auto 240, so I can't remember if mine ever did that without me making it do so. Could it being out of O/D cause this? Don't worry, 5k rpms will not hurt the motor.

I took it to my normal mechanic who confirmed fluid etc was ok. It's in O/D...it's more of a nuisance that this is happening and just want to get it fixed..

If fluid is ok, would have to be something with the electonics (one of the control boxes or something), hopefully someone more electronically experience on the AT will come along.

My vert does this too. Im pretty sure its the TCU that needs replaced. The easy way to deal with it is to put the car in neutral while rolling, turn off and restart it. Mine only does it once every couple months. If you have a good unit you could swap out that would be the way to go. I believe its under the dash, above the ECU.
