transmission speed/rev sensors

i have a 1989 240sx manual 5 spd, and there are these 4 wires/sensors that hook up to the transmission, and a 5th that is a little different. 3 of the "normal" ones plug into the transmission and the 4th just hangs there and i cant find where it plugs in(if it does) is it possible that this plug is for an option i dont have or something. if not than where would this shortest wire plug into. p.s. my speedo doesnt work and my rev limiter is malfunctioning and cutting in early thats why im wondering.

so I take it noone knows where the h*ll this wire came from or where it goes or why?????
