HiJust bought this car.Runs great except the transmission is getting annoying. The transmission puts off a whistle sound when I get about 45 and over.As sson as you let off the gas a little(coast) it quits and is quiet.Transmission does not slip at all.Any ideas as to the sound? or suggestions. Also the air bag light on.........off..............on and the ABS always on.thanks

Thought I would add that when coming to a stop the gears sound like a whining sound maybe the whistle is just a higher pitch wine? anybody got a fix or idea?

Time to download the FSM and study it, especially the RS section if the airbag light is flashing.

What did the Infiniti Senior Technician who performed the pre-purchase inspection tell you?

Presume your car is not a 5MT?

Are you refering to 2 books that ussualy come in a hard pouch? If so I think they came with the car. What confuses a little is the car was made in 11/93 so I would think that it would be a 94 correct or not? As far as a inspection it was not from a dealer.Bought on ebay said it had a miss and it did.But one of the injectors was unplugged.Plugged it in adn ran smooth. Also changed Spark plugs, cap, roter button (cap had 2 ears almost gone on it)any other help appreciated ,also having a problem with the stereo in this car should I get a 94 stereo or 93 and what would them model or part number be? Has the 2 clarion amps on the back deckI posted in another part (audio forum here at Nico)thanksJames

1993 g20 only had drivers side airbag.

Your G20 is most likely a 93.5 based on the build date {one easy way to identify for sure is...does it have dual airbags AND outside door handles that are black?} if so, it is a 93.5

the 1994 model G {which didnt arrive at dealers until April 1994}introduced chrome outside door handles and the new front grill design outlined in chrome. The g20T model was also created for the 1994 model year, and first hit dealers in April of 1994 also with sport seats, rear spoiler and a few other doo dads added on as standard eq.

yes I used the ngk the ones the parts plae showed for the car.NGK I always use them in my 2002 Honda accord special edition and all my vehicles. As far as the year ID i have black handles and 2 airbags and so it is a 93.5 model. The OM directory does not show a 93,what one do I need from this directory?

The 93.5 series G20 was a major update from the 93 model, and specs are exactly the same as the 94 as far as engine and mechanicals go.If searching for mechanical maintenance/repair parts, use part numbers listed for the 94 model if they dont break down the specific part numbers by 93 or 93.5 - sometimes confusing, especially when shopping for aftermarket items.I believe, strangely enough, that the 93.5 and later g20 were also OBD2 equipped, whereas most cars were not til the 96 model year.

A fun, reliable car- I owned a 93.5 G from brand new til 150,000 miles, extremely reliable car that never let me down.Extremely important to change the oil every 90 days on this model to prolong engine life, as some internal engine passages are tiny and known to clog with bad oil change habits, destroying the engine. I used mobil 1, changed every 5,000 miles or 90 days, which ever came first and engine ran like new when traded for the Q.

ok 2 questions about this car1 where is the obd connector2 what do you think might be causing the automatic transmission sound but I agree ,so far this is probably the best car .we had a 200sx turbo hatchback (i tink 81 not sure been a while maybe 85) and ran like a scaulded dog and never had a problem besides i think the turbo kept burning out the gasket for the exhaust

I had a 5speed manual model, so not familiar with the problem you are describing- I assume you checked fluid level and condition? I wonder if it is really the transmission or something in the axle?

I would look under the dash to see if there is a OBD diagnostic port located near where steering column is. Not 100% sure the 93.5 is OBD2, but I recall hearing that it was at the time- I never had the check engine light illuminate indicating a problem in the 150,000 miles I had mine!

A note about the ABS,I read in the shop manual that you can get flash codes from the ABS module from the ignition. But when I performed it on mine I get NO led at all on the module located on the passengers side kick panel(behind it) what could it be? what fuses are there and what ones?thanks
